Quick Update & New Offerings
about 1 year ago – Tue, Feb 28, 2023 at 09:19:10 AM

Hello all you wonderful people!

How is 2023 treating you so far? This year has DEFINITELY been a Chariot year for me so far, with full-speed-ahead type energy on all fronts. In keeping with that theme, I have LOTS of new offerings and projects in the works!

This year I am FINALLY stepping into whatever century this is and building a proper bonafide website. (Whoo-hoo! About time, right?) As I don't wish to misuse the Kickstarter Update feature going forward, I just wanted to quickly reach out and let you all know, so that if you're interested in being kept in the loop on my future offerings, you can choose to opt-in and subscribe to my soon-to-be newsletter.

Subscribe to the Ferocious Ink Newsletter

And if you're not interested, no worries at all. (Though I can promise that my email newsletter will only pop into your email very occasionally, as I'm personally not a fan of being inundated with emails from any one creator.)

Below you can find a few examples of upcoming news I'll be sharing to subscribers. Thank you SO much! Wishing you much magic, success and adventure in 2023!

XOXO, Jen

Announcing Wild's Play: Awakening your true nature through shapeshifting play and symbology 🐺✨

I am teaming up with the incomparable Mellissae Lucia to offer a playfully profound new course starting March 19! It will be a magical mix exploring conscious shapeshifting, funky fun divination, ritualistic movement practices, dress-up games, enchanted treasure hunts, multi-media art practices, and learning how to activate our sacred symbols to energize and sustain our new wild and wonderful ways. 🧡

The course is structured in 4 exciting bursts of interactive engagements, spread out several months apart. During each of the four half-day experiences, we will gather 3 different times over zoom to make and create together. During each session, we will have breaks between to dive into the practices and then return to share our insights and impressions. Each part will build on the previous one, offering a graceful integration of these powerful encounters with emerging aspects of ourselves.✨

I can’t wait to see what unfolds! 🤩 If you are interested in learning more about the course or registering, here's a link to the main Wild's Play page:

There's a New Deck in the Tarot Disassembled Family!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Dec 09, 2022 at 06:52:29 PM

Hello all you amazing backers! It's been almost a year since the last update for Tarot Disassembled and I hope this update finds you all wonderfully well going into another new year!

For any of you that haven't heard the news yet, I just wanted to share that Tarot Disassembled has a new deck sibling that is about to be born: Tarot Assembled.

Once I wrapped up Tarot Disassembled, I found myself continuing to obsess over the individual symbols of Tarot and the stories they have to tell. Tarot Assembled began taking shape and has evolved into the ultimate assembly kit for Tarot.

Sample prototype deck of Tarot Assembled

This 88-card deck can be used alone as an Oracle Deck, in tandem with any RWS based Tarot deck, or simply for deeper study of the symbolic language of Tarot. Drawing several cards can also equate to a regular Tarot reading since the corresponding symbols relate to specific cards in the Tarot. (I’ve even included handy callouts on the edges indicating which cards those symbols appear on.)

And the accompanying guidebook that comes with this deck will be just as packed full as the original Tarot Disassembled guidebook. Though there are similar symbol meanings shared between the two decks, the Tarot Assembled focuses more on the stories and layered meanings of each individual symbol. (Consider Tarot Assembled a deeper dive into each symbol.)

If you want your Tarot Disassembled deck to have a lifelong buddy that will play together nicely with it, there are just 3 more days left to secure your copy:

Wishing you all an easy and joyful holiday season! Thank you all again for helping Tarot Disassembled to be born! May 2023 be full of good things for each and every one of you!

XOXO, Jen

Printed Guidebooks, Digital Guidebook Update, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Jan 06, 2022 at 12:08:08 AM

Hello all you amazing backers!

Just another quick update to let you know that the printed guidebooks arrived yesterday! Whoo hoo!! The printer I used is one I have not worked with before and I am SO pleased with how they turned out! The covers even have the same petal soft finish as the cards themselves.

Now that I have the guidebooks in hand, I can finish getting out all of your orders in the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience with me and this process.

Digital Guidebook Update

Because I have the most awesome backers in the world, one of my amazing backers (who prefers to remain anonymous) took the digital pdf and added hyperlinks to it! The updated pdf is SO much easier to work with! Each card in the Table of Contents now links directly to that page, and each card title links back to the TOC. It makes doing a reading with several cards so much easier than just scrolling to find the right page. I have updated the download link with the new pdf. If you have already downloaded the digital guidebook but would like the easier one to use, it's up there now. Here's a link to download:  Updated Digital Guidebook

Happy New Year and Thank You!

I want to wish you all amazing things in 2022!! Each of you has made 2021 a year of dreams coming true for me and I can't thank you enough for that! Much love and gratitude,

Jennifer

Guidebook and Shipping News
over 2 years ago – Mon, Dec 27, 2021 at 05:01:37 PM

Hi everyone!

Just a couple quick updates for you all:

GUIDEBOOK

The guidebook is officially complete now! Whoooooo-hoo! For those of you who have already gotten your shipment, those little QR code cards work now for downloading the PDF. For those of you who haven't gotten your shipment yet, I will be including a QR code for downloading the pdf in your package.

I have also used BackerKit's digitial download feature to distribute the PDFs to you all as well. (I figured it's always better to have multiple ways to access it.) You should all be receiving an email from BackerKit with a link to download the guidebook from their system.

And just to give you one more option for accessing the PDF guidebook, here is a direct link to it:

Download the Tarot Disassembled Guidebook

I have also ordered the printed guidebooks as well, and should hopefully have those in hand by the end of next week. Yay!!

SHIPPING UPDATE

Something else exciting happened this week... the rest of the decks arrived!!  It's a holiday miracle! I am honestly shocked they got here with no delays. I've seen so many stories of shipments being held up at ports, but it was such an amazing surprise when they showed up. So I now have ALL of the decks in hand! With the guidebook officially out of the way and all the decks here, it's full speed ahead on fulfilling the rest of the orders now.  Please be patient with me, I will try to get all of the remaining orders out as fast as I can. I will be sending packages all next week, but I fully expect that it will take me the first week or two of the new year to finish up.

That's it for now. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! Here's to a fresh new year just around the corner! Hugs and love,

Jen

Shipping Progress and Guidebook Update
over 2 years ago – Sun, Dec 12, 2021 at 12:52:19 PM

Hello you amazing people!!

I just wanted to reach out with a quick update.

SHIPPING

After working out a few kinks in my system, shipping has officially begun! (Whoo-hoo!!) I have been steadily getting batches of orders out each day and will continue the process from here on out. As I mentioned in the previous update, I had the first batch of decks shipped express and the remaining decks are on their way. There may end up being a slight lull in shipments going out if I manage to get out the first 500 decks before the other shipment of decks arrives to me. But I’m hopeful the next batch will have a smooth journey with no delays in reaching me. I will keep you all updated.

GUIDEBOOK

I am still finishing up the writing of the guidebook. Trust me when I say I have been burning the midnight oil for weeks now trying to get this baby done. I am a VERY deadline driven person (hello, Virgo here), and have been hard on myself for running long on my self-imposed deadlines on this book. But it has also organically grown into a bigger book than I ever imagined, so I’m hoping you will all be pleased with the end product.

For those of you who have already received your shipment, or will in the next few days, the QR code cards do not currently work. But please hold on to those little cards... I anticipate having the pdf uploaded this coming week.

My guidebook printer has a 2-day print time, and I plan on paying for expedited shipping, so I should have the printed books in hand shortly.

I thought I would share two little excerpts from the book, so that you can see the depth I’ve attempted to go into on the individual symbols (and understand why this book has become larger than I ever planned… I may be a tad longwinded (lol) but I’ve really attempted a deep dive on the symbology.)

From the Glossary of Common Symbols:

Grapes

The Devil, 3 of Cups, 7 of Pentacles, 9 of Pentacles, 10 of Pentacles, King of Pentacles, 4 of Wands, 5 of Wands

Abundance, prosperity, good health, overindulgence, revelry, celebration, blessings, sweetness of life, transformation, rebirth, redemption.

In sheer numbers alone, grapes hold the record for being the most abundantly cultivated fruit in the world. They are also quite possibly one of the oldest cultivated fruits, as they can be traced as far back as the Neolithic era to around 6,500 BC. The practice of wine making from grapes began not long after that around 6,000 BC. To say grapes are prolific in human history is an understatement. The process of wine making, and the steps involved (harvesting, mashing, fermenting, aging) make grapes a prime symbol of transformation. This also links them to the concept of rebirth as they undergo a sort of death when removed from the vine and are, quite literally, reborn into something completely new. They are a prevalent symbol in Christianity, with wine acting as a stand in for Christ’s blood during the sacrament.

Wine is also an important component of the Jewish Seder during Passover. During a Seder, each adult is tasked with drinking four cups of wine, representing the redemption of the Israelites from slavery under the Egyptians. A fifth cup is left unconsumed, symbolically left out for the prophet Elijah to represent future redemption. These deep religious ties reinforce the grape’s meaning of abundance, representing abundance in all forms – including spiritual abundance.

Grapes are also representative of good health. In addition to grapes being chock full of nutrients, wine was the drink of choice in ancient civilizations due to water being generally unsafe to drink.

No discussion of grape symbolism would be complete without a nod to Dionysus, Greek god of grapes and wine. (Or Bacchus, his Roman counterpart.) The original party boy, he was also considered the god of ecstasy, pleasure, madness and wild frenzy, enhancing the humble grape’s association with revelry and celebration. So the next time you say “the wine made me do it,” just know that the you’ve made the spirit of Dionysus proud.”

From The Chariot card:

“Winged Sun:divinity, royalty, power, ascension, goodness, swiftness. The winged sun has been used as a symbol by a multitude of ancient cultures including ancient Egypt, as well as modern orders such as the Freemasons. Associated with the Egyptian god Horus, when used as a hieroglyphic it was said to mean “to become – to be – to create.” This is perfect as we can almost imagine the Chariot card asking us, “What do you want to become? What do you want to create? Good. Now how do you get there?”

Another association I find particularly relevant is with the Greek god Hermes. The winged sun is traditionally shown adorning the top of Hermes’ staff. Among other things, he is known as the god of travel and roads. Thanks to his fancy-schmancy winged sandals, he was also hailed as the fastest of the gods. As the RWS Tarot is replete with both Egyptian and Freemasonry symbolism, it’s possible the RWS creators primarily included the winged sun due to its meanings from those orders. But I can’t help but think the quick-moving energy of the Chariot pairs perfectly with the energy of good ol’ Hermes.

Wondering why the winged sun seems vaguely familiar, even in modern times? Well, I can’t help but add one last visual reference to this list… the Golden Snitch made famous by J.K. Rowling in the Harry Potter books. (Perhaps you’ve heard of him?) This one might be a stretch, but I personally believe the best symbols reverberate throughout history long after their origins. And here we again have an example that ties beautifully to the Chariot… Harry’s dogged pursuit of the Golden Snitch exemplifies the Chariot’s qualities of determination, action, movement and ultimately, success!”

That’s all for now. Thank you all for your patience and support! I’m learning so much through this process, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. Please reach out anytime with questions. And thank you again!

Jennifer
